VERSES: Exodus 21-24
MEMORY VERSE: Exodus 24:18 "...and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights."
BOOK TO REMEMBER: Review the books of the Old Testament. The stronger the foundation that is reinforced in each student will lengthen the days they remember the books and how many there are in the Bible (39 Old Testament books).
PRAYER: May we always appreciate the intelligence of God, our Creator. He knew what laws the people needed in the Old Testament and He knows what we need today.

LESSON POINTS:
- The LORD knows everything. He knows our names and what we need. He knew the Israelites like that, too. He knew that the people needed laws and guidance and He would tell them how to behave.
- God told Moses and Moses told the people how to behave towards their servants, their marriages, murdering people, fighting with each other, cattle problems, stealing, worshiping idols, borrowing from their neighbors, telling lies, growing crops, feast days, dealing with other nations, and many other things. God wanted all the the people to get along, treat each other fairly and honestly, and, above all, to love and serve Him only.
- God told Moses to come up to meet Him, Moses, Aaron, Nadab and Abihu (those were Aaron's sons), and seventy elders of Israel, yet He told them to worship far away. Then God told them that Moses should come closer to the LORD, but everyone else had to stay farther away. None of the people were to go with Moses. Moses told all the people what God said and they all agreed that whatever God said to do, then that is what they would do.
- Moses got up early in the morning and wrote all of the words of the LORD down and built an altar out of twelve stones. They offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offering to God. Moses took the book of the covenant and to the people. The people said again that they would be obedient to God.
- Moses, Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders all went up to the mountain. God then told Moses to go up into the mountain with Joshua and He would give Moses tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which God had written down. So Moses went up into the mountain after he told the elders to stay right there and wait for them. He said that if they needed any judgments made, then Aaron and Hur could help them.
- Then Moses went up into the mountain and a cloud covered the mountain. The Glory of the LORD stayed on Mount Sinai for six days and on the seventh day, God called Moses out of the middle of the cloud. To the children of Israel, the sight of the glory of God was like a blazing fire on top of the mountain. Moses stayed on top of the mountain for forty days and forty nights. God told him many things about offerings, and the tabernacle and what should be in the tabernacle. God was very specific. He said EXACTLY what to do. He cared about how He should be worshiped. The Bible tells us how to please God and we should read it every day. Next time, we will see if Moses comes down the mountain.
- It is interesting that many things that God said concerning laws and instructions about different subjects, we still use today in our courts of law. God knows best.
ACTIVITY: Moses In The Mountain
Materials needed: brown construction paper, white construction paper, glue, crayons, scissors.
- Hand out a piece of brown construction paper to each student. This is the mountain.
- Generously curve two corners of the brown paper to look like a mountain.
- Cut a cloud out of the white paper.
- Glue the cloud to the top of the mountain.
- Out of the leftovers of the white paper, draw and color a tiny Moses with his rod.
- Cut out Moses and his rod.
- Glue Moses and his rod going up the mountain.
- Write "Moses Goes Up Into The Mountain" and "Exodus 24:18" on the mountain.
